I am amazed at my husband. His strength and courage astound me. The doctors have agreed to do the skin graft and the port at the same time. He has agreed to have them schedule it ASAP so he can get the radiation and chemo started. He says this surgery is "taking the first step out of hell." Wow - I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to return to an OR so quickly. Wow!!! I'm seeing a whole new side to him. Learning something new about someone I've known for so long is definitely an "Ah Ha" moment for me. He's always do I put this?....determined to have his own way and now I finally see a useful purpose for that attribute! He is amazing:-)

  1. Oh, this is wonderful news!
Your husband truly is brave and strong and full of courage!
    And amazing!
You must be so very proud of him!

Now you have something to celebrate!
I'm so happy for you and George!

Take good care of each other ...

  2. I love George's attitude...he is so right, it has to be done so let's do it.
I think both of you are wonderful, Much love and luck......:-) Hugs

  3. Quieten,

Oh,dear... I know this journey all too well...both as patient, and caregiver... Obviously, I have had cancer...done multiple surgeries, chemo...and now the recurrence scare...My mother, who lived with us for 12 years, was diagnosed with terminal ovarian, breast and lung cancers two weeks after I finished chemo...I cared for her in our home until she died in June 2008...I hope you won't mind but I am going to follow you...and pray for you...and if you ever need to vent or cry...I am here...Everyone's journey is unique and personal...but there are some commonalities, and at least in this, I can offer a sympathetic ear...And I promise to do just that...I will LISTEN!!! There is no right way to get through any of it, and so I promise no advice will be given...cancer just is what it is...and my heart breaks to hear that you are having to walk this path...You are incredibly strong...and so is George...and I am honored to have this opportunity to get to know you!!! My heart is with you...Much love and strength to you this day!!!! ~Janine XO

  4. Oh yes I am very aware of " it's my way or the highway attitude" that our "BOYS" can sometimes have. I thunk it just takes a lot of patience on our part and time for our guys to mull things over in there minds.
I think that deep down they know what the right thing to do is. You seem to have a great deal of patience Quieten. And it's sounds like that's what George needs right now.
    Love Di

  5. I was thinking of you and George and wondering how everything is going this week.
So, just came by to say "hello" and wish you well ...
I keep you & George in my good thoughts.

Might I encourage you notice and celebrate the tiniest miracle ... our hearts can be deeply grateful for the miracles sprinkling our days.
